School Choice: Innovation & Accountability

I believe strong public schools are the foundation of our education system, and any expansion of school choice must be done responsibly, with full transparency and accountability. Public schools should not be financially weakened by reckless expansion, and taxpayer dollars must be tied to results—whether for public, charter, or private institutions. Schools that receive public funding must be held to the same high standards and demonstrate academic success and fiscal responsibility. My priority is ensuring that school choice policies strengthen education as a whole, rather than creating winners and losers.

That said, I do support school choice because charter schools have the flexibility to quickly and efficiently adapt to cutting-edge learning models—which is my core goal. Innovation in education is essential, and competition pushes all schools to improve. Charters and other alternative models can serve as testing grounds for new ideas, from STEM programs to career academies, allowing us to refine what works and bring those solutions to all students. Choice should not come at the expense of quality or fairness, but when done right, it can accelerate progress for every student, in every school.
